Laundry Assistance

Olivia loves to help me with the laundry.  She is always underfoot, ready to help me transfer wet clothes into the dryer or unload the dryer by putting clothes into the laundry basket.  Sometimes she'll help me fold...usually by putting unmatched socks onto her hands or rolling washcloths around and then putting them in the folded pile.  But yesterday, as I brought he basket in to fold....she dove right in.  I didn't pay much attention until I saw this...

She went straight for E's underpants and was intent on putting them on.  :)  Silly little girl!

ER trip in the making...

Does anyone else see an ER trip for us tonight? Seriously?!?!?! What makes this seem like a good idea? :)

Motherhood is Humbling

Oh well.  That is pretty much all I can say after this conversation with a certain 3 year old!

We were just getting home from a morning full of a fun breakfast with friends, errands and a quick church meeting...a pretty busy schedule for our lovely low-key spring break.  This is the conversation that ensued...

Ethan (coming in to my room as I'm dropping off my purse) - Hey Mom?

Me - What?

Ethan - Why you still wearing your pajamas?

Me - WHAT?!?!?!  My pajamas?  What do you mean?

Ethan - Yeah...You're pajamas.  You look like you're still wearing your pajamas.  (Said completely matter-of-factly, I might add!)

Me - Uh....these are NOT my pajamas.  But why don't you go out of my room.  I apparently need to change my clothes.

So there you have it...my 3 year old apparently thinks I wore my pajamas all over town today.  Goes to show that I shouldn't deviate from my 4 pairs of jeans and normal shirts that I rotate through every week.  And, so much for trying to show that St. Paddy's spirit and wear green!  I just wish we would have had this conversation BEFORE leaving the house this morning!  Needless to say, those capri's are now in the donate bag in my closet!  :)

Pinewood Derby

Garrett had his first Pinewood Derby at Scouts last week!  He had a great time designing and creating his car.

Third place seemed to be our magic spot...much to Garrett's dismay.  He came in third in almost every race!  The poor kid wanted to win so badly!  He did amazing though and found out afterwards that his car raced better and faster backwards.  :)  Who would have thought!?!?!?

Mama Got a Break!

Last weekend I had the chance to hop on a plane, meet a dear friend, and be spoiled rotten!  We enjoyed a few days, just her and I...no kids, no sippy cups, no nap schedules, just doing whatever we wanted to do.  :)  While it sounds very selfish and indulgent...it was absolutely wonderful and needed more than I ever knew!

Safe and Sound

We are well protected in our house right now.

The boys lined up all their army men, fire men and police men and they are all diligently standing watch.

Evil Dr. Vulture looms perilously over them...but they have held their ground (or my windowsill, as the case may be) for a good week now!  :)

They make me smile every time I go up my staircase.  There's nothing like the peace of being well watched over and protected from evil bird villains!!!

Scary Stuff

The boys are (as we speak), putting together sticker montages for their doors.  Their purpose: to scare mom away so she can't come in the rooms.  Nice.

It's quite amusing to see their 'works-in-progress' though.  Garrett's page is covered in cartoony snakes and the likes (and realistically, that WOULD keep me away!). Ethan's is covered with Goofy (yes from Mickey Mouse...chilling I know!), a rhino, a spaceship (that apparently is supposed to blast off through my bellybutton), and a smiley face (that is supposed to smile and eat me all day!).  I keep getting a sneak-peak of Ethan's as he keeps running downstairs, (laughing hysterically!), and filling me on on the 'whys' of each sticker selection.

Olivia through all this, is scribbling happily through an entire coloring book...pleased as punch to have all the crayons to herself!  :)

How I love these kids and their crazy antics!
