Pounder

So, we have a lovely little frog who lives in our hose box in the back yard.  Though a friend today, informed me that I couldn't call it a frog...it was definitely a TOAD!  Ethan goes out and catches the poor thing each and every day.

Now, I really don't know much about frogs, but this sweet frog has got to be the most patient (maybe not-so-smart) frog on the planet.  Ethan and Olivia play with him for hours on end...add in a little love from every friend we've had over this week...what does he do when he's released each day?  You'd think he'd hop away as fast as his little legs would carry him...hopping over the fence and escaping into the neighbor's yard!  But no, he hops dutifully back to his home in the hose box after being released each day...only to be caught there again the next day.  Poor thing.

So thank you dear Pounder (yes, that is his name...thank you Grace!).  If it were up to my kids to name him, he would have been dubbed "Frog" or maybe "Froggy" if we were feeling extra creative!  :)  But thank you Pounder for filling the 'no-pets-for us' void in my deprived children's lives!  They're quite smitten!

Love it! Just fyi, "frog" in Russian is legushka (one of my favorite words) and "toad" is zhaba.
