To Infinity and Beyond!

As the Mother to a household of talkers...I hear some pretty funny things every day.  Usually though, since I AM said mother and am still sporting a lovely 'mommy brain' that can't remember things for more than 30 seconds, these things just don't make it down in writing all that often.  Sad to admit, but that's just the way it is!  :)

Some of these conversations are usually between one of the kiddos and I...but lately E has entered that magical world where his toys have conversations between themselves (compliments of his amazing imagination!)  I LOVE to listen as the banter goes back and forth between his favorite toys - which at the moment consist of a bunch of Toy Story figurines.  Many times I hear the classic argument about 'Who exactly IS the real Buzz' - a total classic disagreement between two different Buzz Lightyears, straight from the movie.   It just makes me smile!

The conversation right now (yes, going on as I type...since I wouldn't remember this unless I was doing this in real-time!) is as follows (again, straight from the movie...just different characters in our made up version!):

Buzz - Watch this...I tan (can) fly!
Ham (the piggy bank) - No you tan not fly!
Buzz - Yes I tan!
Ham - No...you TAN NOT fly!

Buzz - Oh yeah...watch dis (this!)
Ham - No!  Dat's (that's) not flying.  Dat's falling!
Buzz - Nope.  I TAN fly!

A few minutes ago, this was what I heard between his two Buzz Lightyear figures.  They took their disagreements in a whole different, yet just as funny direction!  One Buzz has a helmet...the other doesn't...so of course, this how it went:

Buzz 1 - Do you like my helmet?
Buzz 2 - Dat's (That's) not helmet.
Buzz 1 - Yes it is!
Buzz 2 - No!  Dat's a HAT!
(And now enters some thinking from our current favorite book...Go Dog's Go)
Buzz 1 - Do you yike (like) my hat?
Buzz 2 - Yes I do!  What a hat!  I yike dat party hat!

And now, all our beloved characters are in the other room discussing who will be flying across a big mountain.  I've got to go see who makes this monumental leap.   Oh wait, I hear an 'Infinity and beyond' so I guess Buzz is already making the big leap...but wait...Woody is shouting that he is 'On his way, Buzz!' so I guess he's not too far behind!  If anyone wants to know how this one ends...call me and I'll fill you in.  Just make sure you call soon, otherwise I will never remember!

funny

Tonight at dinner, Ethan spilled some of his soup - which he earlier declared was the "yummiest soup EVER!" and "dis is my FAVORITE dinner Mommy!"

He apparently dripped some on his pant leg though halfway through dinner and shouted out,

"Oh No...Oh No...Oh No! I dropped some on my pant sleeve!"

So cute!  Pant sleeve.  Makes perfect sense!

maybe not

The boys play this really weird game with each other - and anyone who happens to be talking - albeit, totally unbeknownst to them...

Whenever someone says 'Maybe' in any conversation, they will race each other to say 'Maybe Not'.  They then continue on as if nothing out of the ordinary has taken place at all.  It's all kinda twilight zoney, and I really don't know where it came from...but they have done it for months!  And now the funny thing about it all...Steve and I now do the same thing to each other...Maybe...Maybe Not!  Try it...it is guaranteed to make you smile!

Anyway, nothing important...but just one more quirky look into the craziness that is our family!

distracted me...

Tonight I walked past the boys room after they were all tucked in and 'supposedly' already sound asleep...at least that is what one would think since it had been quiet in their room for a good 45 minutes or so!  I notice though that Ethan's lamp is still on.  Oh well, at least Garrett, the one who has to get up for school, is asleep.  Again...so I thought.  E sees me, shuts off his light and throws his books off his bed and lays down...all before I even make it into the room.  As I walk towards the bed...this is what I hear from the top bunk....

Garrett - Ughhh....Mom!  Ethan turned on his light and it distracted me!!!

Me - Distracted you?

Garrett - YEA...it totally distracted me!

Me - I'm so sorry......WAIT!  Were you reading?

Garrett - (silent for a few seconds and then dejectedly admits to it)  Yes.

Me - (laughing to myself)  So E distracted you and it forced you to read your book?

Garrett - (totally perking up and thinking I bought his logic)  Yeah!  It's totally his fault!

Me - (now laughing out loud!) Garrett.  Book on the shelf.  No more reading!!!  Not even if the light is turned back on.  No more!

The funniest thing about all this is...I never even would have known he was awake if he hadn't started blaming his brother!

And then, as I pick up all the books that E had thrown off the edge of his bed as I'm walking out of the room...Ethan adds "Mom.  Don't lose my page.  Don't lose my spot!"  Uh yeah, me picking up the books off the floor is what is going to make him lose his spot!  And for heavens sake...it's a board book.  Is it really that hard to find your spot in a 7 page board book?

Ahhhh....how I love bedtime!

On the charts....

It's official, little Olivia is on the growth charts!  Wahoo!  I took her in today for a check-up and she officially weighs 13 pounds 10 ounces...which equates to somewhere around the 5th percentile for infants her age.  Maybe I should have asked if that was for infants 4 months old or 7 months old...I guess that would make a difference!  But regardless...she is on the chart!

close-ups

What do you get when you let your 2 year old 'hold' your camera?

Beautiful close-ups...lots and lots of them!  AND, a very happy and entertained little boy!
Got to love that!
