cheese

Yet another Olivia post...I promise I do love my other children too!

So, Olivia has apparently learned the delicate art of 'smiling for the camera'!

I can usually catch the normal smile...

...and then it turns into this...

And yes...this happens every time.

Nice and cute...

And then the 'super cheese'...

Hmmm...I wonder where she learned this from???

birthday follow up

Apparently, Olivia likes cupcakes!

Notice the chocolate frosting on her fingers...she totally got a hold of a cupcake during the 'apparently-too-long' version of Happy Birthday!!!  Impatient little girl!!!

Finally we have a child who will get their hands dirty!!!  The boys always freaked out when they got the frosting on their fingers...and refused to eat any more!  Olivia smashed it all up and ate every last bit!  That's my girl!!!

Straight to the bathtub...there was no cleaning this one up at the table!!!

Birthday #1

We've gone from this...

to this...

What an amazing, crazy, fantastic and humbling year!  We are so grateful for our little miracle baby and all she adds to our family!

Happy birthday sweet girl!!!

keeping cool

I turned my back for a second today to grab something to put in the fridge...and this is what I find!  Nothing like putting groceries away with her hanging out on her little perch!!!  But with how hot it's been lately...can you blame her?!?!?

overheard

As I have said about a million times before...Ethan says the FUNNIEST things!

Case #1-
I just walked into the kitchen and heard this...
"Weediya (this is how he says Olivia), when are you going to be a tid (kid)?"
When she doesn't answer...he just keeps asking...
"When you going to be a tid?  Huh, Weevia?  When you going to be a tid?"

Case #2 -
Yesterday I was laying on the floor, playing with Olivia.  Ethan was nowhere to be seen.
Olivia pulled my hair and I couldn't help but cry out with an "OUCH!" as I untangled her fist from my hair!  From upstairs, Ethan shouts down, "Weediya!  Stop pulling hair!"  (How he even knew what she was doing was beyond me...he hadn't been in the room for quite some time!  I guess this just shows how well he knows his little sister!)  The admonishment didn't stop there though.  He continued on with "Weediya!  If you don't stop pulling hair, you can't live with us anymore!"  Wow!  Pretty strict punishment...especially from a kid who has his own issues with obeying!

Case #3 -
Ethan, when frustrated, loves to state the obvious.  Yesterday, we stopped the car while waiting for a Mother duck to usher her baby ducklings across the road.  We oohed and ahhed over the cute babies, and as we drove away.  Ethan shouted out that he hadn't been able to see them!  Steve said something about being able to see them later.  Ethan, apparently not believing this to be possible, shouted out, "Dad!  You didn't know that birds have feathers?!?!?!?!?  They're gonna fly away!!!!!!!!  They have FEATHERS!!!!!!"  Well then...there you have it.

Cases #4 through #98 -
All these cases prove that this child is the sassiest little 3 year old on the planet...and as such, they don't need to be documented in detail!  So just picture the "You're the weirdest mom in the whole wide world" I heard  coming from the bathroom last night as he was supposed be to brushing his teeth, or the "No!  You go stand in the corner!" that I hear when trying to implement a time out and you'll catch the idea!!!

But the number of times he hugs me everyday and tells me that I'm "prettyful" makes it all worth it!  :)

summer activity #57

What better way than this to get through yet another rainy afternoon???  (and yes, I mean the WHOLE afternoon...or at least all of naptime - which is essentially the same thing in mom-language!!!)

But really, Garrett is a pretty good banker!  It's fun to watch his little brain trying to figure out the sums when I hand him the coveted $500 bill and ask for my change!  :)  Aren't I mean!?!?!?

spell it out

Garrett started spelling words out so that he could say things in front of Ethan without him understanding.  Hmmm....wonder where he learned that little trick?!?!?  The funny thing is though...it doesn't even phase Ethan.  Garrett will ask for a P-O-P-S-I-C-L-E...and Ethan will just follow right along and ask for a A-A-I-I.  When I ask him to what it is he's asking for...he says "I don't know...I just want an D-Y-A like Garrett! Cute kid.  He knows that he can't go wrong following Garrett!

Also, along the same spelling idea...

I joined the YMCA and have been going to work out.  I bring the kids with me and they hang out in the daycare area and love it.  Ethan can't ever remember what it's called though, so he'll just throw out any old letters when asking if we are going.  "Mom, we going to the E-D-A dis morning?" or "Mom, pweez we go to the A-C-P dis day?"  I love it!  It makes me laugh every time!
